Individual Health Insurance in Oldsmar
Buying a plan on your own can feel risky. One wrong pick and your doctor is out of network or your deductible is out of reach. We compare plans from several carriers, check the details that cause trouble later and explain everything in plain words before you sign.

Coverage for one person, chosen carefully
Individual health insurance is a plan you buy for yourself rather than through an employer. It fits if you are self-employed, between jobs, working part time, retiring early before other coverage starts, or simply aging off a parent's plan at 26.
Our approach is safety first. That means checking for the gaps that hurt people most: a network that leaves out your doctor, a medication that is not on the plan's drug list, or an out-of-pocket maximum you could not actually pay. We would rather spend an extra ten minutes on those checks than have you find out at the pharmacy counter.
We meet clients at our office or by phone and video, so you can sit down with us wherever is easiest.
What we do during your consultation
- A side-by-side carrier comparison
- We line up plans from multiple carriers so you can see premiums, deductibles and copays next to each other instead of on separate websites.
- Doctor and hospital network checks
- Tell us who you see and where you would want to go for care. We confirm whether each plan includes them before we recommend it.
- Medication coverage review
- We look up the medications you take on each plan's drug list and note which tier they fall in, since that often matters more than the premium.
- Subsidy and enrollment window guidance
- If you qualify for help lowering your premium, we show you how it applies. We also explain whether you can enroll now or need to wait for open enrollment.
- Plain warnings about limited plans
- Some low-cost plans skip preexisting conditions or cap benefits. We point those out clearly so a cheap premium does not hide a risky plan.
Signs it is time to look at your own plan
Your job coverage is ending
Losing employer coverage usually opens a special enrollment period, often around 60 days. Waiting too long can leave you uninsured for months.
You just turned 26
Coverage on a parent's plan ends at 26. It is a good moment to choose a plan that fits your own doctors and budget.
Your premium jumped at renewal
Plans change every year. A higher premium or a new network can mean a better option is available for the same or less.
You started working for yourself
Freelancers and small business owners in Oldsmar and around Tampa Bay often go without coverage longer than they mean to. A plan in your own name protects you and your income.
You moved or had a life change
Moving, marriage or a change in income can affect which plans and savings you qualify for. If a spouse or children need coverage too, our Family Health Insurance page covers that.

What goes into your plan's price
A few factors set your premium, and the lowest premium is not always the safest pick. We show what each plan might cost over a whole year instead of just one month. Our check is free to you, since the company you pick pays us.
- Your age and tobacco use
- Prices climb as you age, and using tobacco can bring an extra charge. Carriers are allowed to use only a few personal factors like these.
- Tier and deductible
- Bronze, silver and gold plans trade the monthly premium against what you pay when you get care. A cheaper premium tends to come with a bigger deductible.
- Kind of network
- HMO and EPO plans are often cheaper but keep you inside their network. PPO plans give you more choice for a higher premium.
- What you expect to earn
- A premium tax credit can cut your monthly bill by a lot. Our ACA Marketplace Plans page explains how that help works.
Common questions about buying your own plan
Something not covered here? (813) 565-9202
Is there a set time of year to buy an individual plan?
Most Marketplace plans are sold during open enrollment, from November 1 through January 15. At other times you need a qualifying life event, like a move or the loss of job coverage. We can quickly tell you if you qualify today.
Does a preexisting condition affect my coverage?
Plans that follow the ACA cannot refuse you or raise your price because of a preexisting condition. Certain short-term or limited plans can, and we call those out plainly so nothing surprises you down the road.
Is there a charge for your help?
No. The consultation is free, and the carrier you pick pays us. You pay the same premium you would if you signed up by yourself.
Are dental and vision part of an individual plan?
A typical individual health plan leaves out adult dental and vision. You can add them on their own, and our Dental Insurance and Vision Insurance pages walk through those choices.
How can I be sure my doctor is in the network?
Share your doctors' names on the call, and we look them up in each plan's network before we suggest it. Since networks can change, it is also wise to check with the doctor's office yourself.
